What a Cootiful Day!

Yesterday we needed a break from the heat so we packed up our cameras and headed over to Big Lake’s  Jack E. Poole Wetlands. It was still warm and muggy but with a cool breeze blowing off the lake, it was quite pleasant.

When we first got there, it was extremely quiet so I figured it would be a day a wildflower photography, that was until we got to the boardwalk. There were coots and more coots and even more coots. American Coots everywhere! The babies have grown and shed their funky red head feathers and have gotten pretty darn cute.

Here is some of what we saw. Enjoy!
